Update on Mark

Last Tuesday Mark started not feeling well. He said that his body ached and his hands and feet tingled. So on Wed. he went to the Dr. he thought he might have Swine Flu. One of his business partners had it a few weeks ago, so he thought it was a possibility. But he didn't. I ended up taking him to the ER on Friday night, because he was getting so bad that he could barely walk. They did alot of test and decided that he has Guillan-Barre. (You'll have to google it!)Most likely Mark will be in the hospital for 4-6 weeks. He will then have months and months of recovery. The Dr's say that they "think" he will be 100% in about a year. Today Mark had a tracheotomy to help him with his breathing. He will be in ICU for probably the next 4 to 5 days to monitor him on the meds he's taking, and to continue to watch his breathing. After that, hopefully he can be moved out of ICU. He is able to nod his head when we asked questions, and even seemed to be excited that the members of the bishopric came or really any of his friends for that matter. We had the kids record him messages, and he seemed to like that as well. It's just a waiting game...it's going to get worse before it gets better. All they can do is try and keep him comfortable, and wait for it to run it's course. Thank you for all the help, love and prayer. They mean so much to us!

We just talked to Richard about Mark yesterday and were so shocked to hear how quickly and aggressively this illness has affected him. Your family is constantly in our prayers and we have confidence that your family will be watched over. Mark is strong and will recover with some time. We wish we could be closer to help you guys! Your family is so cute, especially that adorable new baby...congratulations! Please keep us updated on how Mark is doing!
